When You Need Pages 3, 7 and 12 — Not All 80

Sending an 80-page report when a colleague needs three specific pages wastes their time and fills up inboxes. Printing the whole document to get one diagram costs paper and toner. The smarter move is extracting exactly what you need as a standalone file. Our free PDF page extractor lets you click the pages you want from a thumbnail grid and download them as a new, clean PDF — no page-range syntax to memorize, no command line, no upload to a server.

Click to Select, Not Type to Specify

Upload a PDF and the tool generates a numbered grid — one tile per page. Click any tile to select it; selected pages highlight with an orange border and a checkmark. Click again to deselect. Use All to select everything or None to clear and start over. When your selection looks right, click Extract and the output PDF downloads instantly. The visual approach means you never mistype a range or accidentally skip a page.

The "Save Remaining Pages" Option — A Hidden Time-Saver

Checking "Also save remaining pages" tells the tool to produce two output PDFs simultaneously: one containing your selected pages, and a second containing everything you did not select. This turns a single extract operation into a clean two-way split — useful for separating a cover sheet from the body of a document, or pulling out completed forms from a batch while keeping the unfilled ones together.

Common Uses for Page Extraction

  • Share a specific section: Pull the executive summary out of a long annual report for a quick briefing
  • Isolate individual receipts: Extract each receipt from a scanned expense batch so they can be filed separately
  • Build a study guide: Extract only the pages containing diagrams or summary tables from a textbook
  • Remove a confidential page: Select every page except the one to delete, then download — if you also need to rearrange the remaining pages, try our Reorder PDF tool
  • Separate a cover page: Extract page 1 as a standalone thumbnail or title image
  • Combine with other tools: Extract the pages you need, then use Merge PDF to combine extracted sections from multiple documents into one

Quality Is Unchanged — Here Is Why

Extraction copies pages from the source document without re-encoding anything. A scanned page with 300 DPI imagery stays at 300 DPI. Text layers remain fully searchable. Embedded fonts, vector artwork, and metadata all transfer intact. The output is not a screenshot or a re-render — it is a direct copy of the original page content placed into a new PDF container.

Privacy — Your Document Never Leaves Your Tab

All extraction runs locally using pdf-lib inside your browser. No file data is transmitted to ToollyX or any third party. This makes the tool appropriate for extracting pages from legal documents, financial statements, medical records and any other files that should not be uploaded to cloud services.
