How Does the Savings Calculator Work?
This calculator uses the Future Value of an annuity formula: FV = P ร [(1+i)^n โ 1] / i ร (1+i), where P is your monthly savings amount, i is the monthly interest rate (annual rate รท 12), and n is total months. The additional (1+i) factor at the end accounts for savings deposited at the beginning of each month (annuity-due), which is typical for SIPs and recurring deposits.
The key insight is how dramatically the corpus grows in later years due to compounding. At โน10,000/month for 20 years at 10% return, you invest โน24 lakh but the corpus grows to approximately โน76 lakh โ the wealth gain (โน52 lakh) is more than double what you invested.
