ATS-Friendly Templates — What That Actually Means

ATS (Applicant Tracking System) software is used by most companies above 50 employees to scan and rank resumes before a human reads them. Common ATS rejection triggers: tables and columns (cannot parse), headers and footers with contact info, images and graphics, non-standard fonts, and section headings like "My Journey" instead of "Work Experience". All three templates here use standard section headings, no tables, and clean typography. Classic and Modern are the safest choices for ATS. Bold works well for roles in design, marketing or creative fields where visual impact is valued.

How to Write a Resume That Gets Noticed

The most common resume mistake: describing job duties instead of achievements. Instead of "Responsible for managing the sales team," write "Led a 6-member sales team to deliver 140% of annual target." Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for each bullet. Start every point with a strong action verb: Built, Led, Reduced, Increased, Launched, Managed, Designed. Quantify wherever possible — numbers make achievements concrete and memorable to recruiters scanning hundreds of resumes.

Resume Length — One Page or Two?

Under 5 years of experience: one page, no exceptions. Recruiters spend 6–10 seconds on an initial scan — a two-page fresher resume signals poor prioritisation. 5–10 years: one page if possible, two pages if relevant. Senior roles (10+ years): two pages is standard. Never pad to fill space — cut ruthlessly. A tight, confident one-page resume communicates better than a diluted two-pager. The Professional Summary section (2–3 sentences maximum) should be tailored to the specific job description, not generic.

Skills Section — What to Include and What to Leave Out

The skills section is often wasted on obvious or irrelevant items. Skip: "Microsoft Word," "Email," "Communication skills," "Team player." Include: specific tools, frameworks, programming languages, certifications and measurable competencies relevant to the role. Group skills by category (Technical, Domain, Languages) for better readability. If applying for a technical role, mirror the exact technology names used in the job description — ATS matches keywords precisely.

Your Salary and CTC After Landing the Job

Once you receive an offer, understanding what your CTC translates to in actual take-home salary is critical before accepting. Use our CTC Calculator to break down any offer into Basic, HRA, PF and in-hand salary. If you pay rent, use our HRA Calculator to understand your tax exemption. Two offers with the same CTC can have very different in-hand amounts depending on how the salary is structured.

Data Privacy — Nothing is Stored

Your resume data — name, contact details, work history, education and all other information — exists only in your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded to any server, no account is created and no session data is retained. The PDF is generated locally and downloaded directly. Close the tab and the data is gone. This is intentional: your career information is sensitive and should not be stored on third-party servers without your explicit consent. Always download your PDF before closing the browser — there is no auto-save.
